Environmental Impact
Decarbonizing Transportation at Scale
The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. Verdek is actively reducing this impact by:
- Deploying over 10,000 EV chargers that power zero-emission vehicles
- Installing off-grid and solar-ready charging stations to enable clean power even in remote locations
- Prioritizing NEVI-eligible and Buy America-compliant equipment
- Supporting fleet electrification for government, corporate, and school systems
Every project we deliver contributes to reduced tailpipe emissions, improved air quality, and a sustainable energy future.
Social Responsibility
Equity, Access & Community Partnerships
We recognize that true sustainability includes people and communities. Verdek’s commitment to social impact includes:
- Partnering with public agencies and municipalities to build EV access in underserved communities
- Supporting workforce development through partnerships with local electricians and minority-owned contractors
- Building with accessibility in mind — ADA-compliant site designs and equitable charger placement
- Championing clean air for children, families, and frontline neighborhoods
We’re committed to ensuring no community is left behind in the EV revolution.
Governance & Ethics
Transparency. Trust. Accountability.
Our governance strategy ensures that ESG principles are embedded in our operations:
- ISO-certified business practices that reflect quality and integrity
- Compliance with GSA, FedRAMP, NEVI, and state-level environmental regulations
- Robust data security practices for our clients and partners
- Clear sustainability reporting and goal tracking (2025 ESG targets in progress)
We hold ourselves accountable — because clean energy must be built on clean ethics.
Guiding Principles
Climate Responsibility
We design, develop, and promote clean energy solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help mitigate the effects of climate change.
Sustainable Operations
We strive to minimize our environmental footprint through energy-efficient business practices, responsible procurement, waste reduction, and low-emission logistics.
Product Stewardship
We work with the best manufacturers to offer high-efficiency, durable charging systems. Our products are chosen for their longevity, and end-of-life waste reduction
Key Focus Areas
1. Carbon Reduction
Verdek plays a direct role in reducing transportation-related emissions by enabling the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
- We design and deploy EV charging infrastructure that supports fleets, municipalities, transit systems, and commercial properties transitioning from fossil fuels to electric power.
- We aim to quantify avoided CO₂ emissions across our installed base and promote electrification benchmarks for clients and partners.
2. Circular Economy
We are committed to supporting a circular economy by minimizing waste and extending product lifecycles.
- We encourage proper end-of-life management for chargers, offering solutions for recycling and repurposing charging equipment.
- Verdek partners with manufacturers that design products with modularity, upgradeability, and recyclability in mind.
- We actively promote refurbishment and reuse of existing infrastructure where possible to reduce
3. Green Procurement
Our procurement process prioritizes sustainability across the supply chain.
- We assess suppliers and vendors based on their environmental, labor, and ethical practices.
- Preference is given to manufacturers with certified environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) and carbon-neutral commitments.
- We continually review our sourcing standards to reduce embedded emissions in transportation, materials, and packaging.
General Guidelines
Travel and Meetings
Verdek is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of travel by adopting low-carbon and resource-efficient alternatives wherever possible. Our travel policy is designed to promote sustainability without compromising operational efficiency or client engagement.
- Employees are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transportation to attend meetings and site visits, except in circumstances where such options are impractical or cost-prohibitive.
- Travel to client sites located within a 200-mile radius will, wherever feasible, be undertaken using Verdek’s own fleet of electric vehicles.
- When preparing proposals, the financial costs of more sustainable modes of transport—such as rail or electric mobility—will be fully accounted for and transparently included.
- We prioritize the use of remote collaboration tools, including teleconferencing, video conferencing, and virtual meeting platforms, to reduce the need for physical travel. When in-person meetings are necessary, we aim to schedule them efficiently to reduce repeated trips.
- Verdek actively promotes remote and flexible work arrangements to reduce commuting requirements and support a healthier work-life balance.
- As part of our broader commitment to clean transportation, we continually advocate for and educate stakeholders on the benefits of electric vehicle use for both corporate and personal travel.
Purchase of Equipment and Consumption of Resources
Verdek ensures that our procurement practices and resource use reflect our sustainability goals. We strive to reduce waste, conserve energy, and make environmentally responsible purchasing decisions across our operations.
- Paper and office consumables are used sparingly. We encourage double-sided printing and digital documentation to minimize unnecessary paper consumption.
- Wherever possible, we facilitate the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, packaging, electronic components, and obsolete equipment.
- All new office equipment purchases prioritize energy efficiency and compliance with recognized environmental standards. Additionally, good housekeeping practices are followed to reduce idle energy consumption.
- Verdek seeks to purchase electricity from suppliers that are committed to renewable energy. Our goal is to maximize the proportion of our energy sourced from renewable providers and support investments in new renewable generation projects.
- Our commitment to sustainability also extends to community engagement. We support local and environmental initiatives through volunteer efforts and targeted donations aimed at offsetting the carbon emissions from our operations.
- Any consultants or associates engaged by Verdek are expected to adhere to these sustainability principles and incorporate them into their client work on our behalf.
- A copy of this Sustainability Policy is included in all client proposals and bids as required, to affirm our environmental commitment and inspire aligned practices across our partner network.
